Beaches, lights and all things nice
Set on the south coast of England with a picturesque beach, beautiful parks and grand Victorian buildings is Eastbourne. Crowned the UK’s sunniest town by the Met Office, Eastbourne has long been a popular destination for international students due to the safe and welcoming environment it offers. The town is ever-increasingly becoming a popular study destination for people not wanting to travel to London, whilst continuing to offer students a range of exciting things to do outside of lesson time.
Why is Eastbourne so appealing?
One of the things that makes Eastbourne so appealing is the fact that the town and surrounding areas offer an exciting range of things to see and do.
There are so many attractions such as the pier, theatres, museums and art galleries as well as a number of bars and restaurants, the cinema and bowling alley – but that’s just the town centre! Within a short distance is also an expansive nature reserve, the Observatory Science Centre and the beautiful Herstmonceux Castle with its dramatic red-brick appearance. Eastbourne is one of the coastal destinations of England where you can sit, relax and take in some sunshine on the peaceful shingle beach, which is a huge draw for visitors. Just a short distance away are the breath-taking chalk cliffs of Seven Sisters and Beachy Head where you will find an iconic red and white lighthouse sitting in the sea, the subject of many photographs and picture postcards.
A holiday destination with the opportunity to study
Millions of tourists flock to Eastbourne each year and it has been a holiday resort for more than 120 years. You have the best of both worlds when you study here; on one hand you get all of the excitement of a tourist destination, on the other hand you will benefit from peaceful atmosphere in the town. When you’re studying but still want to be out and about, you can sit in one of the many cafes, parks or on the beach, take out your books and study away! Then you can explore further in your free time.
Eastbourne is a great place to experience everything about English life
You get the best of everything here. You can have fish and chips by the seaside, enjoy a traditional English pub or tea room or take in the views from the cliffs – but Eastbourne doesn't just offer the sea and sand! Lovers of the picturesque countryside can explore the South Downs National Park, where you can have a picnic, take in the views and climb the rolling hills. If that’s not enough and you want to experience the cosmopolitan life with a trip to the city, you can reach London and Canterbury in around 90 minutes by train.
